To my Black friends, family, neighbors, fellow humans: I stand behind you, with you, beside you, before you – wherever you need. I support you.
Like many of us, I’m trying to determine how I can use my privilege to support Black voices in this ongoing, escalating battle. Here is a list of resources that I have found helpful; I hope you do, too. I believe most of these are US-centric, but please let me know if you come across any similar international organizations.
Black Lives Matter – Because they do. Systemic racism must end NOW.
REGISTER TO VOTE – Make your voice heard!
George Floyd Memorial Fund – Established by the family of George Floyd, money raised by the memorial fund will be used to care for Floyd’s children, and to fund counseling, legal, and other essential services.
Black Visions Collective – A Black, trans, and queer led organization in Minnesota, Black Visions Collective has been working to “pursue our commitment to dismantling systems of oppression and violence” since 2017. Right now, that means delivering supplies and support on the ground.
Campaign Zero – A national advocacy organization that uses data-based research to inform policy solutions aimed at eliminating police violence.
Unicorn Riot – Nonprofit media collective dedicated to exposing the root causes of social, economic, and environmental issues.
ActBlue – Securely send bail funds to a variety of organizations across the US.
North Star Health Collective – A local Minnesota group that provides street medics, first aid/CPR training, and works at the intersection of healthcare and anti-oppression work.
75 things white people can do for racial justice
“…one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” We’re not there yet, but I hope we will be soon. Please do what you can, spread love, compassion, and keep the flame of justice burning in your heart.
If you have any other links/resources, please drop them in the comments and I’ll add them to the list.
Thank you, and stay safe. 💜
